I won an award! Thank you!

1-liebster-award2

Wow, having only been blogging for a matter of weeks I was so happy to be nominated for the Liebster award and by creating this post, formally accept the award. What a way to start 2014!

It is great to know that people enjoy reading my blog as much I enjoy reading others and it gives me great hope that my blog will continue to grow in time.

Firstly I would like to send a huge thank you over to KidazzleInk for my nomination, it is lovely to be recognised by such a wonderful blogger. You can visit here blog here which is filled with lovely tales of her wonderful travels.

What are the Liebster Award Rules?

In order to formally accept this award, the nominee must do all of the below and believe me this is a great way for a new blogger to step into the blogging world.

1. Link back and recognize the blogger who nominated them
2. Answer ten questions given to them by their nominee
3. Nominate ten or so other bloggers for the award.
4. Create ten questions for their own 10 nominees to answer.
5. Notify your new nominees for the award

Here are all of the questions that KidazzleInk has asked me to answer, some of these were rather difficult to answer but I feel were interesting and made me reflect on past trips:

What is your favourite thing to do when you have time to yourself at home on holidays?

Besides writing on my blog? Well I love searching through other Travel Blogs to look for inspiration and usually end up booking yet ANOTHER holiday. This is probably the most expensive thing to do well sat at home but I have got some great trips out of it.

What is your favourite wild animal and what country is it native to?

My favourite wild animal has to be the Elephant, I love the sheer size and power of the elephant along with the beauty. I like their lovely tusks and their intelligence. Their are two types of Elephant, the African and the Asian – I like both of them so cannot separate the two.

Do you prefer to stay home, visit family or travel overseas when you holiday?

Travel overseas, I go away every opportunity that I am off work but I have just been on holiday for the first time since my two nieces were born and I missed being away from them so I will mix them from all now on.

What was the absolute best family holiday you remember having as a child?

Gosh! There was so many, one family holiday in particular stuck in my mind in Turkey. My mum took me and my sister away and booked a day trip every other day, we visited Ephesus, Pigeon Island, we went on boat trips and had a Turkish bath. It was amazing.

What’s the most outstanding holiday you’ve ever had as an adult?

This is such a hard question to ask because I love all of the holidays I have had because they are different and unique in their own way. I would say the most outstanding was Slovenia as we swan in waterfall caves, swam in crystal clear waters, climbed up rock faces and saw the most beautiful views. That was outstanding! But my favourite place in the world is Bruges…Can I not be allowed two? 🙂

Where did you go on your last holiday?

I came back from Poland just yesterday, although I could say last year! We visited Auschwitz as this was on Richard’s bucket list and then we stayed in a Polish Castle, it was wonderful.

What activities/entertainment do you look for when you start planning for a holiday period (i.e. time at home, markets, beaches, sightseeing, cultural pursuits etc.?

I am terrible, I don’t look for activities or entertainment if I am honest, I just book a place and then look at what we can do. This is the wrong way around but I believe that this is the best way to get to know a country and open your eyes to new things.

What are your two favourite overseas countries?

Slovenia has to be on this list because it is a beautiful country and has so much to offer, my second has to be New Zealand, I haven’t actually made it there yet (not sure if it is allowed to be somewhere I haven’t visited) but I have a list of about a million things that I want to do in New Zealand and love its beauty. I will make it their in the next two years – for sure!

Where would you go if you had about $1000 to plan a holiday right now?

This is a difficult one as there are so many places I want to go but I would more than likely head over to Iceland, I have been wanting to do a road trip around their for a while now although I am unsure the budget would stretch that far. Second in line is Rome, I will be making sure Rome is visited by me and Richard this year. I cant wait to see the Vatican and the Colosseum.

If you had a Fairy God Mother who could grant you the holiday of a life time….whatever you wanted to do, wherever you wanted to go, however much it cost…what do you think you would choose?

This is the easiest question of all, Africa! I love Africa and I really cannot wait to head over there. We are being our own fairy godmother and are going to book for Africa this summer, we want to snorkel in the crystal clear waters, spend a couple of days in the game reserves, go on an African Bush tour and see Africa in all its glory. If money was no object I would also tick off two more items on my bucket list, climbing Kilimanjaro and a hot air balloon ride over a game reserve….Wow!

I have created the below ten questions for my nominees to answer, I hope you enjoy answering these as much as I enjoyed creating them and I look forward to reading all your answers.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Do you enjoy blogging as much as you expected too when you first began your blog?

Do you prefer to travel in your free time from work or would you prefer to travel long term?

What is top of your bucket list?

What do you aim to get out of your blog?

What are your travel plans for 2014?

Did you do anything in 2013 that was outstanding or that took you by surprise?

What is the most amazing/memorable thing you have done or seen while travelling?

What is your favourite country and why?

If you could fly to anywhere in the world tomorrow and money was no object, where would you go and what would you do?

  1. Aww thank you so much Natasha! I too have only been blogging for a short while and its lovely to know someone is actual reading it! Let’s just say…you’ve made my year 🙂 Never heard of this award until today and I can’t wait to get stuck in! x

    • I had never heard of this award either but I think its a great award! Especially for those like us who haven’t been blogging for very long. It is nice to know that somebody is reading your blog, makes all those hours worthwhile 🙂 It does take a little time to accept the award but it is worth it and you find new great blogs….Like yours. Congratulations x

    • Thank you and your blog certainly deserves to be nominated, its great!

I have to agree, the training would have to start now. I don’t think I would make it to the top, I only just made it up Scafell Pike :).

    • No problem, I love your blog although it makes me very tempted to go straight to the airport and jump on a plane to some of the amazing european cities. Very jealous you have been to Tallin, that is a city I cannot wait to get to 🙂
